The key points are that 

1 - it is designed as an all purpose palette for painting anything, not just limited subjects.

2 - it is designed so that you generally only need to mix two colours to get whichever hue you want, which means greater ease of mixing, speed of mixing and little chance of mud.

3 - it contains a range of watercolour characteristics - granulating and non-granulating, staining and non-staining, transparent and opaque - so you have not only colour to explore but characteristics as well.

4 - It contains mixable yellows, reds and blues but also a yellow earth, a red earth and an orange earth so the options for limited palette triads within this set are wonderful.

5 - it contains single pigment colours - though of course Jane’s Grey is a mixture.

6 - it is suitable for a beginner or experienced artist. Options for a ‘just 12 colour’ palette are on my website for those who want to be really minimal.

7 - it is not intended as a limited palette - convenience colours can be created from it or bought separately - but pretty much any colour you might want can be mixed

8 - it has a very convenient light and dark colour which also speed up painting. It also has a number of wonderful neutralising pairs for creating more darks.
